Abstract:

As semiconductor and industrial equipment push toward tighter tolerances and higher throughput, the bottleneck is no longer optical or mechanical—it is the ability to process vast image data in real time. This talk presents how AMD FPGA heterogeneous computing addresses that gap by implementing AI algorithms directly in hardware rather than software. By pairing an AMD CPU (handling the operating system, generative AI, and high-level decisions) with an FPGA that executes core algorithms at the hardware level, the architecture delivers deterministic, microsecond-class response—reducing processing time from tens of milliseconds to as low as 10—while lowering power consumption and protecting proprietary algorithms within the silicon itself. Drawing on real deployments in laser exposure and inspection equipment, the session covers three pillars: real-time machine vision, adaptive AI that requires no lengthy retraining, and precision alignment automation—offering equipment makers a practical path from today's CPU/GPU limits toward next-generation edge intelligence.
