Topic:

Building the Next-Gen Chip for Low-Power Micro AI

Abstract:

As AI moves from the cloud to increasingly smaller edge devices, conventional Neural Processing Unit (NPU) architectures face growing challenges in power consumption and data movement. Building the next generation of low-power Micro AI chips therefore requires rethinking how AI computation and memory interact.

In this presentation, Alpenglow Tek will introduce its ultra-low-power NPU architecture based on Compute-in-Memory (CIM) technology. By performing AI computation in the memory and minimizing repeated data movement between memory and processing units, the architecture can improve energy efficiency by up to 100× compared with conventional approaches. We will explore the key architectural considerations behind a CIM-based NPU and how this approach enables efficient always-on AI inference for medical monitoring, industrial sensing, and wearable devices.

Key Technologies Covered:

  • Compute-in-Memory (CIM) Architecture
  • Ultra-Low-Power NPU Architecture
  • Energy-Efficient AI Inference
  • Data Movement Reduction
  • Always-On AI Processing
