Elliott Ortmann

VP – Fabrication Process Engineering, Xanadu Quantum Technologies

Elliott received his Bachelor's Degree in Physics and Mathematics from Tulane University and his PhD in Condensed Matter Physics from the University of Texas at Austin. His graduate work focused on the development of epitaxial complex oxide materials and the integration of those materials into photonic devices.

Elliott joined Xanadu Quantum Technologies in early 2023 as the first hire for Fabrication Process Engineering and has since grown the team to approximately 25 engineers. Elliott currently serves as the VP of Fabrication Process Engineering at Xanadu.

Xanadu's Fabrication Process Engineering Team is responsible for engaging Xanadu's fabrication partners and has the mandate of optimizing fabrication processes in order to meet the exacting performance requirements demanded by photonic quantum computing, especially in the area of ultra-low loss integrated photonics.

Before joining Xanadu, Elliott worked as a Sr. R&D Engineer at PsiQuantum, where he was responsible for designing and commissioning the world's first 300 mm oxide MBE tool, which he used to grow the world's first 300 mm epitaxial barium titanate thin films.
