As global demand grows for resilient semiconductor supply chains, sustainable high-tech facilities, and next-generation manufacturing technologies, the Nordic countries are strengthening industrial collaboration through the Nordic Chip Alliance. According to the Alliance’s official report, the Nordic semiconductor industry has demonstrated strong growth in recent years, reaching a total output value of EUR 5.7 billion in 2023, representing a 36% increase since 2019. The ecosystem includes more than 300 active companies and employs approximately 22,000 people. Key areas of Nordic semiconductor expertise include Chip Design & Microelectronics, MEMS & Sensors, Advanced Materials & Processing, as well as solutions for high-tech facilities and advanced inspection technologies.
This year, Sweden and Finland are jointly presenting at SEMICON Taiwan, showcasing innovative companies and cutting-edge technologies from both countries. Sweden has a strong industrial foundation in high-tech facilities, semiconductor equipment, and MicroLED technologies, while Finland is internationally recognized for its expertise in cryogenic superconductivity, advanced materials, photonics, and quantum technologies. Together, the two countries demonstrate the Nordic region’s research excellence, technological innovation, and growing contribution to the global semiconductor value chain.

- Alfa Laval (Sweden): headquartered in Lund, Sweden, is a global leader in heat transfer, separation, and fluid handling. - Roxtec (Sweden): the world leader in modular cable and pipe sealing solutions, providing certified protection against fire, water, gas, dust, vibration, and electromagnetic disturbances. Trusted across critical industries, Roxtec supports semiconductor facilities with reliable sealing systems that enhance safety, operational continuity, and long-term performance throughout the plant lifecycle.
- Camfil (Sweden): founded in Sweden in 1963, has been deeply rooted in Taiwan for over 20 years, providing sustainable and energy-efficient air filtration and pollution control solutions for industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, and semiconductors. Camfil firmly believes that “Clean Air, A Human Right”.
- Nefab (Sweden): Nefab Taiwan saves environmental and financial resources for customers by optimizing supply chains. We do this by providing high‑performance, customized industrial packaging and logistics solutions.
2, Advanced Semiconductor Equipment, Materials, and Inspection Technologies
- AlixLabs (Sweden): builds equipment for advanced semiconductor patterning. Its flagship APS™ (Atomic Pitch Splitting) tools deliver leading-edge dimensions in fewer process steps than today’s multi-patterning approaches, with lower energy use, in existing infrastructure. APS™ has been used to demonstrate 3 nm-class logic on production wafers, with the first tools shipping in 2027.
- Obducat (Sweden): a leading provider of lithography technologies for the production of advanced micro- and nanostructures. Its portfolio includes nanoimprint lithography systems, resist and wet processing equipment, and foundry services based on proprietary technologies. Serving industries such as optics, photonics, electronics, sensors, and biomedical devices, Obducat operates internationally with headquarters in Lund, Sweden.
- Excillum (Sweden): Excillum is the global source for X-ray innovation. We develop, manufacture, and service the world’s brightest and most advanced industrial and laboratory X-ray sources. In close collaboration with best-in-class scientific, industrial and system integration partners we enable new science, improve medicine and enhance manufacturing. Headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, Excillum is pushing the limits of X-ray source technologies since 2007
- SisuSemi (Finland):SisuSemi treatment is for FEOL and BEOL processes to reduce leakage current. Leakage current reduction even 80%. Good for qubits.
SisuSemi offers test services for FEOL and BEOL processes. We sell equipment that can be integrated to existing production lines either as a stand-alone system or as an in-situ system as part of an existing cluster tool.
- Vexlum (Finland):Vexlum specializes in high-power, single-frequency VECSEL (Vertical-External-Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser) systems for quantum technology, scientific research, medicine, and the semiconductor industry. Spun out from Tampere University, Finland, our technology builds on a research heritage linked to Nobel Prize-winning work with trapped ions. Vexlum operates from Tampere, Finland, and Boulder, Colorado.
3.Advanced Chip and MicroLED Technology
Solinide Photonics (Sweden): Solinide Photonics develops silicon nitride optical microcombs for next-generation datacentre and AI infrastructure. A single photonic chip replaces dozens of discrete lasers, cutting power, cost, and footprint in Co-Packaged Optics. With over 60% conversion efficiency and 28 wavelength channels, and backed by partnership with NVIDIA, we deliver the optical backbone for hyperscale datacentres and 6G networks.
- Polar Light Technologies (Sweden): Polar Light Technologies develops high-performance MicroLED technology using a proprietary bottom-up GaN architecture that avoids problematic etching of the active LED material. This enables ultra-small, efficient and scalable pixels for next-generation displays and optical systems. We target demanding applications including AR glasses, defence optics, microdisplays and optical interconnects, where brightness, efficiency, pixel density and manufacturability are critical.
