Joanne Ao is a Data Scientist Manager in the Smart Manufacturing and AI (SMAI) organization at Micron Taiwan. Holding bachelor's and master's degrees in Statistics from National Cheng Kung University, she entered semiconductor manufacturing through a non-traditional path and has built over nine years of experience turning statistics and data science into manufacturing excellence.
At Micron, Joanne leads the development and global deployment of the SEMI E79-based OEE system, covering requirement gathering, ETL and back-end architecture, front-end dashboards, and AI module integration. Since its introduction in 2023, the system has lifted Micron's global fab an additional 0.2% output beyond targets; its modular, replicable design has been adopted across fabs in Taiwan, Japan, the United States, and Singapore.
A strong advocate of data democratization, she has trained more than 100 engineers and operations staff through cross-site workshops and cross-functional programs. Prior to Micron, she developed PHM (Prognostics & Health Management) systems at UMC and, as a project manager and application engineer at XDM Tech, deployed data-analytics platforms for more than five clients. She was named a winner of the SEMI 20 Under 40 Award (Industry Contribution) in 2025.
