Vice President of IBM Japan, Chief Technology Officer IBM Research & Development, IBM Japan, Ltd.

Noly Morimoto joined IBM Yamato Laboratory in 1987 as a hardware engineer and later moved to IBM Research after earning his master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1995.

In 2006, he was transferred to IBM Watson Research Center in New York. In 2008, he led efforts to expand IBM’s global research network into emerging markets, and in 2009, he became Director of IBM Research-Tokyo.

Noly subsequently held several leadership positions at IBM, including Vice President and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of IBM Asia Pacific, Vice President of Research & Development for IBM Japan, and CTO of IBM Japan. He became Vice President of IBM Japan in 2023 and joined its Board of Directors in 2024.

Noly served as President of the Information Processing Society of Japan (IPSJ) and as a member of the Semiconductor and Digital Strategy Advisory Panel under the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI). He currently serves as an External Technical Advisor to Delta Electronics and an External Board Member of Temple University Japan. He is a member of the Japan Association of Technology Executives (JAOTEX) and a Fellow of the Japan Federation of Engineering Societies (JFES).
