The Southern Taiwan Science Park Bureau of the National Science and Technology Council broke ground in 1996 and officially marks its 30th anniversary milestone in 2026. The Bureau oversees the Chiayi Science Park, including its Phase II expansion; the Tainan Science Park, including its Phase III expansion; the Kaohsiung (Luzhu) Science Park; the Ciaotou Science Park; the Nanzih Science Park; and the Pingtung Science Park. It is also continuing to advance the development of the Shalun Ecological Science Park. With a total development area exceeding 2,900 hectares, the Southern Taiwan Science Park serves as a key hub of Taiwan’s “Southern High-Tech Corridor.”
The Southern Taiwan Science Park focuses on six major industries: integrated circuits, optoelectronics, precision machinery, biotechnology, telecommunications, and computers and peripherals. It has established a comprehensive semiconductor industry cluster encompassing such critical fields as advanced process technologies, advanced packaging, materials and equipment, and smart manufacturing.
By integrating AI applications, ESG practices, and industry–academia–research collaboration, the Southern Taiwan Science Park continues to promote industrial innovation and sustainable development, with the goal of creating a world-class science park that brings together cutting-edge technology, ecological sustainability, and a highly livable environment.
