When designing a mmWave antenna-in-package (AiP), there are many categories of material properties that one has to taken into considerations. As the types of AiP evolve on organic substrate, such as asymmetrical, stacked, and hybrid type, these properties has to optimized carefully for high performance, high yield, and high reliability.
The material properties that are critical to these considerations are overviewed in this presentation. The properties includes electrical, structural, and material. It is important that the supply chain of the organic substrate works closely together to optimize them, as the demand of the mmWave AiP scales dramatically in the 5G era.
