Topic 11: 5G for AIoT Application Development

•It’s expected that 5G will get commercialization in 2020, and then 5G era will follow.  The 5G is designed to satisfy the requirements resulted from diverse applications in 2020s, especially the massive machine-type IoT applications aside the enhancement of human-being oriented broadband communication. And, the speech will cover following 4 major subjects:

•1)  The major 5G application scenarios --- Enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB), Massive Machine Type Communication (mMTC), and Ultra Reliable and Low Latency Communication (URLLC), which were defined by ITU-R specifying the diverse applications in 2020s. Accompanying the scenarios, 8 key performance KPI were defined And these scenario, and 8 accompanied key index, became the baseline of the 5G system development for global communication industry.

•2) The key elements composing of 5G system. 5G was defined to be as “one network for all services”, and the 5G system will be greatly different from 4G. The 5G will contain several new crucial elements, including massive MIMO, mmWAVE, iMEC, NFV, and network slicing, in order to support the requirement of diverse application.

•3) 5G and AIoT applications: IoT is recognized as the killer application of 5G, and along with the booming of AI technology advancement, with no doubt,  AIoT (AI+IoT) will become one of the most important applications in 2020s. The way of how 5G system support the development of AIoT application in 2020s will be crucial to the success of 5G and AIOT.

•4) Looking forward to pioneer 5G deployment in 2020. Most updated 5G development status, including 5G system standards and products development will be briefly addressed as concluding remarks.
